The dilute calico had woken at daybreak. It wasn't uncommon for her to do so, her body used to a rather early rising schedule. Contradictory to her early ways, was the fact that she also preferred late night excursions. But sleep never evaded her, in fact she seemed to effortlessly fall into its warm embrace. It was restful and serene, and most times she woke invigorated and ready to take on whatever was thrown her way. But such was the way of Mothflight. Ever optimistic, ever searching out a new challenge, and always welcoming the unwelcomed. Like a dreaded sunrise hunt. For her, it had been the matter of stretching quick enough to warm her limbs before she slipped out of camp and headed towards the mountain.
She was bound to find prey here, and she knew it. But could she carry it all back..."Challenge accepted." she murmured with a grin before picking up her pace. As time passed, and she repeated the hunting steps all too well, she took note of the suns rays beginning to filter through the land. How long had she spent out here getting lost in a world of her own? Mothflight sighed, picking up the mouse at her paws and dropping it on the small pile she had been collecting. Perhaps she had bitten off more than she could chew. Two trips perhaps? Her brow furrowed in thought, too bad she hadn't brought another with her. Though, who else would find the early morning welcoming?
(deerly I started this thread for Moth & Rook! Hope that's okay!)
Rookstar woke with a startle his ice blue eyes darting around in the unfamiliar surroundings. Blinking hard a few times a shiver rolled over his body as a particularly chilling breeze blew through the gnarled roots of the large tree that the ThornClan leader had chosen to sleep in that night. It wasn't odd for the grey tom to not spend his nights sleeping in the campsite that he had established upon the creation of ThornClan. He had enough trust in his deputy to watch over the Clan while he was out for the night, plus there was also his close companion Wilddaze watching over everything as well. But, the constant need to repair den's and be mindful of the waves was definitely not idle. Especially since the Clan was finally starting to grow. It was fine for now but he worried about when kits would start being born in the Clan. So, while the clan was still growing Rookstar had taken it upon himself to begin searching for a more permanent place of residence. For the past moon or so he'd made his way around the Haeream woods. While it had appeared ideal the eerie woods made it easy to get lost in and he didn't want to risk the younger members of the clan getting lost every time they left the camp. So, the leader had finally made it to the base of the Altum mountain range.
With a rather deep stretch, Rookstar slipped out of the roots of the large tree had taken shelter under. Giving his pelt a quick shake he looked around before swiftly making his way through the trees. As he walked along his ears perked on high alert he could just barely make out the sound of someone rustling around in the bushes. Tilting his head his eyes narrowed slightly. He wasn't sure any of his clanmates would be up this early in the day and be so far away from the campsite. As he carefully neared the sound of the cat he heard the she-cat speak. He instantly relaxed as he recognized the voice as Mothflight and as he broke through the tree line he saw the predicament that the cat was currently in. Eyeing the pile of prey she had managed to catch he couldn't help but be impressed and glad that the she-cat had joined ThornClan when she did.
Her mind stirred with ideas and possibilities of how to get the pile of prey back to camp. But the only logical idea was multiple trips. As much as she was up for an adventure, and ready to take on the day, multiple trips to and from one location seemed rather dull and boring to the molly. Perhaps it could be spiced up with a few different routes, planned accordingly, they might take longer than a straight path but at least she could shake up the scenery and really enjoy her time outside of camp. Her skull bobbed in agreement as she came to terms with the idea, but as if a 'SOS' had been sent out, her saving grace appeared. Her ears perked up as her head snapped around to catch sight of Rookstar. The tom was a rather welcomed sight, not simply for his good looks but rather for his ability to help with her dilemma she had gotten herself into.
A slightly melodic laugh escaped her maw as she swept her tail at him in a welcoming manner. "Well if you aren't the definition of perfect timing." Her words were somewhat playful, a small smile pulling at her face as she pawed one of the pieces of fresh-kill towards him. "Would you like some? I was just about to allow myself a piece before the multiple trips I was preparing to take." She gave a entertained purr, the idea still mulling around in her brain. If Rookstar didn't truly want to help, she would indeed be stuck with multiple trips. Not that it bothered her, it meant exercise and that meant gaining more strength. The silver lining was always there, if one knew how to look for it. And Mothflight was exactly the cat who did just that.
